DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY. The Staincliffe Hotel was formerly a prestigious 21 bedroom hotel, function and wedding venue right on the front with stunning, uninterrupted views across the beach and sea. The property enjoys a generous car park to the front and large lawn area.
The Staincliffe is ideally located within a short walk of a multitude of local amenities, entertainment venues and the beach, in addition to the beautiful Hartlepool Marina, Town Centre, Retail Park and the Headland.
Plans have been recently explored by the current owners for the potential demolition and redevelopment of the site into 35 apartments, providing sea front residential dwellings. Alternately the building could also potentially be converted to a number of uses (subject to the necessary planning permissions) or restored and returned to a hotel and entertainment venue/serviced accommodation without any further planning consents.
The building occupies a generous plot within a prime location, ideal for developers and investors.
Viewings are highly recommended to understand the magnitude of this opportunity.
Brief History of the Staincliffe:
The Staincliffe Hotel was built in 1869 as a house for the wealthy Hartlepool merchant Thomas Walker. The large villa was sold following Walkers death and the new owner added a billiards room to the rear in 1903. In 1921 the building was sold to Cresswell Gray, for use as a convalescence home for the workers of his father's ship building firm. The building was sold again in 1929 and converted and operated as a hotel up until its closure in 2023.
